I am one of the design and the development team leads at Hexxen. As such, I am generally involved in the day-to-day development tasks like client changes and upgrades. In charge of site builds and generally do most of the in-house server work that goes with maintaining our clients' sites. Fluent in HTML and CSS / SCSS as well as PHP and have extensive knowledge in and experience with JavaScript, Angular, and jQuery. On the design side, I do most of the mock-up work for new site builds (especially mobile designs, which are my preference and specialty), from wireframing to the final site design. I am also in charge of creating style guides and logos as they are needed. In my free time I like watching trippy tv and movies. Walking around my Saint Louis neighborhood playing Pokemon GO is how I get my steps in. I’m also addicted to Destiny 2 (Fighting Lion gang rise up!). I’m a quiet person but I love listening to other people’s perspectives and stories. Content consumption is in my bones.

As Content Director at Hexxen, I oversee the planning, creation, and optimization of all written materials and front-end website content, facilitating collaboration between teams. I view my position as that of a problem-solver: when someone Googles something, it's because they have a problem; my job is to present our clients as the solution. We achieve this through a variety of off- and on-page SEO techniques, as well as the production of in-depth, useful content that Google values highly. From HVAC companies to law firms, martial arts academies, and controlled environment manufacturers, our content team takes pride in speaking from the client's expertise and through their voice. My educational background is in English Literature, History, Creative Writing, and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.   About Brennan Girdler If you're on this site it means you have either a problem, a goal, or both. I really enjoy watching amateur comedians. It reinforces the idea that everyone has a story to tell that's valuable to someone somewhere. Some tell stories better and some flop and try again next time. With the number of digital avenues we have today, there are dozens of ways to transform a message into value. I come from a magazine background where I'd write puff pieces about a pumpkin patch or historic home--sure, it's great for advertising dollars and civic awareness of what's going on, but what value does that sort of contact provide other than a pat on the back? Having shifted into digital marketing and business development from academia, I've grown increasingly interested in finding ways to help people identify and solve problems. My family is all from the central Illinois region (Cubs and Cards were not to be discussed during get togethers. I've been in St. Louis for a decade and call it my home. I went to artsy undergrad and grad schools (see below) and primarily studied poetry with the hopes of teaching. Tried that, didn't like it, but--unlike a lot of folks who went into creative writing--I had a mixed media background with publishing. I came to Hexxen (Orange Design at the time) with passable technology skills that evolved and allowed me to know when to ask questions and how to find answers. This digital space evolves every day. To quote Bueller, "If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Nothing could be closer from the truth in this world. I write a little bit of everything as a hobby. Do I publish? Not often. It's more for me. The interesting thing is that I was a creative that moved into the research sphere. We have an inside joke that the content team here are basically paralegals, ERP designers, roofers, plumbers, logistic specialists, etc. Every day is different. I also answered the phone. The sales and client relationship elements have really caught my attention over the past few years. I look forward to serving you and making your dreams of success become a reality.
